PROSPECT HEIGHTS – THE BROOKLYN CHILDREN’S Museum (BCM) brings roller skating to Brooklyn this Saturday with “Empire Skate of Mind,” a disco-themed roller rink opening Nov. 15 on the museum’s rooftop terrace. The rink accommodates all skill levels, and is designed for kids ages 3 and up and families to skate apart or together.

The popup pays homage to the legendary Empire Roller Rink, which stood less than a mile away at 200 Empire Boulevard from the 1940s through 2007. Empire was the birthplace of roller disco in New York – a place where Brooklyn came together to skate, alongside celebrities like Cher, Prince and Elton John.

The rink will operate from Nov. 15, 2025 through April 12, 2026, with sessions on weekdays from 2 – 5 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Skating tickets are
