PARKTON — The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina recently formally recognized and extended its commendation to Edward Lowery, an enrolled citizen of the Lumbee Tribe, on his historic election as mayor of Parkton. His election represents a significant milestone as the first time a Native American has been chosen to serve as mayor in the town’s history.
