HAWKEYE, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capital Bureau) -- A Hawkeye man believes that his unique background has prepared him to become a non-traditional candidate for Congress in Iowa’s Second Congressional District.

Dave Bushaw said that he has detassled corn; worked at a chicken hatchery, worked at a meat processing and packing plant; run his own squash farm; served as a Rural Field Organizer in Iowa, Nevada, and South Carolina for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign; and traveled the country as a musician.

He told Gray Media Iowa that he believes many people believe that the partial shutdown of the federal government demonstrated that both major political parties --Republican and Democrat -- are not serving the best interests of Americans.
