OAKLAND — A person was shot on the Laney College campus on Thursday, authorities said.

The shooting apparently happened around noon in an athletic building near Fifth Avenue and East Eighth Street. The condition of the person shot was not immediately available, nor was their connection to the community college known.

Numerous Oakland police officers were on the campus as of 12:30 p.m., near the football and baseball fields.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been announced.
