The Red Sox designated right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero for assignment last week, but he cleared waivers and Boston outrighted him to Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.
Guerrero appeared in 22 games for the Red Sox over the past two seasons. Last season, he pitched in 13 games, covering 17.1 innings while allowing nine hits, 10 strikeouts, and finishing with a 4.15 ERA.
The 25-year-old pitcher’s 2025 campaign was cut short in late June due to an elbow injury. Boston placed Guerrero on the 15-day injured list before later transferring him to the 60-day injured list.
Boston drafted Guerrero in the 17th round of the 2021 MLB Draft and made his Major League Baseball debut against the Chicago White Sox on Sept. 8, 2024.
