AMHERST, Ohio — In what’s being described as “a fairly significant issue” at Amherst Junior High School, a deer crashed “directly through a large windowpane” at full speed and entered the cafeteria around 7:20 a.m. Thursday, according to a post on the school's site from Principal Andrew Hoffman .
There were a couple of students and staff members sitting in the cafeteria as they prepared for breakfast when the deer came crashing through, according to Hoffman's statement.
“We were able to quickly barricade and contain the deer in the cafeteria and, ultimately, on the stage," Hoffman said in his post.
The deer was “funneled out the back door” without any additional damage or injury with the help of staff members and Amherst police.
