A Boston firefighter accused of sexually abusing a child over the course of six years was released on bail Thursday.

Court documents revealed what the alleged victim told Boston police investigators about James Corbett, saying the abuse took place in her bedroom and other rooms of her house starting when she was 11 or 12, with the firefighter offering money and gifts to keep her silent.

A criminal complaint said the alleged victim, with whom Corbett lived part of the time, told investigators that sexual contact caused her to "completely shut down," and that it happened "damn near every week" for the past few years. She reported not feeling like she could do anything about it.
