Cayden Warren

A Spotsylvania family is honoring the extraordinary kindness of 11-year-old Cayden Warren, whose "generous soul" is now guiding their final decisions after his sudden medical emergency.

According to his family, Warren suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on the evening of Friday, Nov. 7.

He was stabilized at Mary Washington Hospital and flown to VCU, where doctors determined he had no brain activity after a prolonged period without sufficient oxygen.

Loved ones describe Warren as "artistic, energetic, and deeply compassionate."

In the GoFundMe organized by Grace Frye, she wrote that Warren “has a generous soul and often wanted to give away even his most prized possessions.”

She said that same spirit led his family to their decision. “This has guided his family in their final decisions,” Frye wrote.

Frye said the family has chosen to “extend his legacy by giving life to other children through organ donation,” noting the donation is “scheduled tentatively before the weekend.”

Relatives have shared their heartbreak as they process the loss.

His great-aunt wrote that the family lost a “talented, shining bright 11-year-old and beautiful child,”

She added that Warren “was everyone’s heartbeat,” especially for his father, Daniel Warren, and grandmother, Jean Ortiz. “We’ve been numb and our family will never be the same,” she wrote.

In an emotional tribute, Ken Johnson, who is engaged to Warren's mother, shared a simple message that captured the family’s grief.

“Life will never be the same without you...”

The fundraiser can be found here.

"Funeral arrangements have yet to be made, but please contact the family for updated information," Frye added. "We extend our deepest thanks for any donations, big or small. Please keep Cayden’s family in your prayers."
