After the experimental Pennies from Heaven (1981) but before he played second bananas, as in Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) and forward, stand-up comic and TV writer Steve Martin honed his pure comedy skills with several pretty hysterical, in every meaning, movies. Two of my favorites are The Man with Two Brains and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels .
