Members of the B.C. General Employees Union have voted to ratify a four-year contract, putting an end to months of contract struggles that saw the provincial government increasingly hand cuffed as workers walked out.

In an update shared Thursday, the BCGEU said 79 per cent of its membership took part in the vote and of those who did, 89.3 per cent voted to accept the tentative agreement.

“This vote marks the conclusion of a long and challenging round of bargaining, one defined by your strength, unity, and unwavering commitment to fairness,” read the statement shared by the bargaining committee .
