Four injured in serious car crash near local high school

ROCKFORD, Ill. — Four people were injured in a car crash near a local high school.

Rockford Police said on X just after 2:45 p.m. on Thursday there was a "serious" car crash with injuries on Samuelson Road near Jefferson High School.

Four victims of the crash were brought to local hospitals with critical injuries, said police. Samuelson Road, west of Jefferson, is closed off.

Police said to avoid the area while they investigate.

There were no further updates.
