GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Railside staple arrived at the Amur Plaza in Grand Island Thursday morning.
This year, The Railside Christmas Tree will be a Colorado Blue Spruce that was donated by Cindy Lowenstein from her front yard.
The work to remove the tree began at 8 a.m. Thursday, with members of Grand Island Utilities using a bucket truck to secure the tree, while members of Grand Island Parks and Recreation used chainsaws to cut it down.
The tree was placed and secured onto a trailer, before the Grand Island Police Department escorted the tree to the Amur Plaza.
Park Superintendent Barry Burrows said the Utilities Department was a big help in taking down the tree.
“We’ll sling it. We’ll hook it, and then they latch onto it, tighten it, so they have tension on it,” Burrows said
