A violent explosion flattened a west side house on Thursday, Nov. 13, in the afternoon, sending debris flying in all directions and toward other homes, but no one was in the residence and there did not appear to be any injuries, fire officials said.

The explosion is under investigation.

It was the latest of several explosions, including some that were fatal, this year throughout metro Detroit, including others in the city and the suburbs.
