DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The widow of an Anamosa prison guard who was killed four years ago is fighting what she claims is a state effort to limit workplace rights before the Iowa Supreme Court.

Sara McFarland, whose husband Correctional Officer Robert McFarland was murdered by inmates in March 202 1, continues to fight for employees’ rights in a lawsuit against the state.

The Iowa Attorney General is asking the Supreme Court to dismiss the lawsuit, that McFarland’s attorney says could potentially hold public employees liable for their coworkers’ reckless actions.

Sara McFarland says this case affects every public employee in Iowa, not just her husband’s death.
