The Ottawa Police Service has charged two suspects involved in a series of sophisticated frauds that resulted in $250,000 in victim losses.
A 25-year-old from Ottawa and a 22-year-old from Gatineau have both been charged with numerous fraud-related offences related to a bank investigator scam, police said in a news release Thursday.
In June, police issued an appeal for public assistance in identifying two suspects who had posed as bank fraud investigators and would contact victims by telephone using a fraudulent telephone ID to impersonate banks or financial institutions, claiming the victims’ accounts had been compromised.
