CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A jury has convicted a man in connection with the murder of a woman five years ago.

Mark Dwyane Walton,41, is found guilty of accessory after the fact to murder and desecration of human remains, according to Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office spokesperson Ashley Kay. He was sentenced to the maximum 25 years, a maximum of 15 years on an accessory charge and a maximum of 10 years on a desecration charge.

The case centered on the death of 28-year-old Celia Sweeney in February 2020. On Feb. 27, 2020, Buddy Carr, 32, traveled from Spartanburg to Charleston to visit Walton. The two, both claiming past associations with the Hell’s Angels motorcycle club, planned to go out drinking.
