WILKES-BARRE — Wilkes-Barre Mayor George C. Brown and members of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department and Fire Department recently visited Holy Redeemer High School on South Pennsylvania Avenue in the city.
Mayor Brown spoke to the over 400 freshmen through senior students about his responsibilities as mayor and the various departments with the city.
Officer Rich Olshefski and his K9 partner, Tenshi, demonstrated their teamwork, and Sergeant Steve Lada and Officer Chris Benson showcased the e-bikes used for the WBPD’s bike patrol unit.
Additionally, WBFD Captain Robert Stehle presented how quickly firefighters get into their turnout gear, as physically demonstrated by Firefighter Dan Lapadula, and components of the fire turnout gear and attached equipment.
