“This is Us” author Colleen Hoover reportedly felt she had to choose between the film’s director, Justin Baldoni, and star Blake Lively amid their falling out.

“I know things took an awful turn, and I felt forced to choose when I did not want to,” the author allegedly wrote in a 2024 text message to Baldoni, which was included in a declaration filed by Wayfarer co-defendants on Nov. 10, according to documents obtained by People .

“But the back and forth articles from both camps is just so upsetting and ridiculous,” the alleged text continued in part.

“It’s making everyone working on this movie look immature. Everyone is out there trying to save themselves and now this has turned into a huge mess.”
