Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita announced today he has issued civil investigative demands to the city of Fort Wayne to determine if it has violated the state’s ban on sanctuary cities.

Rokita announced he’s also issued subpoenas to organizations as part of a labor trafficking investigation, including Amani Family Services, Catholic Charities of Fort Wayne and Amazon.

He said he is not accusing these organizations of any wrongdoing or illegal activity.

“These are employers and nonprofits that interact with migrants and help them find jobs,” Rokita said. “We believe that perhaps more so than anyone else these entities have vital information to help us root out labor trafficking that’s happening right here in the Fort Wayne area as a result of the illegal immigration crisis.”
