Relationships and reflection are at the core of a classic Stephen Sondheim musical opening this weekend.

Indiana Musical Theatre Foundation opens “Company” on Friday. The show, directed and choreographed by Leslie Beauchamp, runs through Nov. 23.

At the center of the story is Bobby, portrayed by Jake Wilhelm. As he celebrates his 35th birthday with friends, Bobby is questioning why he hasn’t made a committed relationship like they all have.

Beauchamp believes that sort of introspection is something to which everyone can relate – looking at what stage of life you are in compared to your contemporaries.

“We tend to take stock and think about ‘What is it about that particular place, and am I supposed to be there?’ ” she says. Bobby has five sets of married friends and three girlfriends.
