COLUMBIA, S.C. — Hollywood is rolling out a special honor for South Carolina native Chadwick Boseman.

The late actor will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 20. Boseman will receive his posthumous star in the category of Motion Pictures.

The award-winning actor became a global icon through his performances as Jackie Robinson in "42," James Brown in "Get On Up," and, of course, as Marvel’s Black Panther.

Bowman was from the South Carolina town of Anderson and graduated from T.L. Hanna High School. He later went to college at Howard University.

Boseman died of cancer in August 2020 at the age of 43. At the time, his family said Boseman had been diagnosed with colon cancer four years before his death, though Boseman had not spoken publicly about his diagnosis.
