The state Department of Health on Thursday advised families to stop using any ByHeart Whole Nutrition infant formula immediately after the product was linked to cases of infant botulism across several states.

New Mexico does not have any confirmed cases of infant botulism — a disease that can cause difficulty breathing, muscle paralysis and death — stemming from the outbreak, the department confirmed Thursday.

However, at least 15 babies across 12 states — including the neighboring states of Texas and Arizona — have gotten sick from the baby formula since August, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. All 15 infants were hospitalized, but the FDA has not yet reported any deaths as a result of the outbreak.
