NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Boring Company is nearing the start of tunneling for the Music City Loop downtown, concluding testing on a new machine designed to handle Nashville’s challenging limestone geology.

The company, known for tunneling projects in softer soils in Las Vegas, Austin, and Los Angeles, faces a different challenge in Tennessee. The new “hard rock” boring machine, recently announced on social media, is specifically engineered to bore through tougher geological formations like limestone and manage the resulting dust.

The Boring Company has yet to respond to inquiries by WSMV about the machine’s shipment and the commencement of tunneling operations.
