A helicopter crashlanded in a field this afternoon (November 13), as a pilot performed an emergency landing in a rural area. The aerial incident occurred over Greater Manchester. ‌

The pilot, in his 60s, was reported as unharmed. He landed near to Beaumont Road in the Lostock area of Bolton. ‌

Firefighters have been sent to the scene and an air ambulance was deployed at around 1.45pm. Accounts from surprised locals on social media included them seeing the aircraft 'spinning out' and 'falling from the sky'. ‌

According to Manchester Evening News the helicopter's gyrocopter is understood to have experienced trouble. This is a type of rotorcraft that uses an unpowered rotor.
