CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County is rolling over its debt for Gateway another year, a strategy that helps the cash-strapped county get by until it figures out a long-term solution for how to pay for repairs at Rocket Arena and Progressive Field.

The county, in late 2024, had to borrow just over $14 million to pay off its half of Gateway Economic Development Corp.‘s $40 million debt to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Guardians for repairs at their respective facilities, as required under the teams’ lease agreements.
