BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Beaufort County Community College dedicated part of its boat manufacturing center today.

The Belhaven TroutFest Boatbuilding Laboratory honors the Belhaven Trout Tournament and Festival, which has donated $70,000 to the college foundation over the past two years.

Organized by the Belhaven Chamber of Commerce, the annual event raises funds to support scholarships for students in both marine industries and short-term workforce training programs.

The 5,301 square-foot facility, opened in 2023, provides a new teaching space for students to learn every stage of boat construction and rigging, from reading blueprints to final assembly.
