Postseason high school football is here and the brackets for the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association high school football playoffs are out.

The playoffs will feature six rounds in each classification except for 1A and 8A, which have a smaller bracket. The top eight seeds in the east and west brackets each receive a bye in the first round. Unlike previous years, top seeds are not decided by conference champions . Seeding is done entirely by RPI rankings.

Four Western North Carolina teams earned No. 1 seeds in their brackets – Robbinsville in 1A, Murphy in 2A, Mountain Heritage in 3A and Brevard in 4A.

The second round of the postseason will take place on Nov. 14, with six weeks of playoff games before the state championship games Dec. 11-13.
