ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Federal workers began filing back into the office Thursday, less than 24 hours after the longest government shutdown ever finally ended.

Democrats were unable to overcome a Republican majority – and a few defections in their own party – to stall a continuing resolution that will now fund the government through Jan. 30.

They were holding out for the renewal of health care tax credits through the Affordable Care Act that were used by over a million Georgians to cut the cost of insurance.
