The fifth-seeded Flagstaff Eagles girls flag football team won another instant classic over the No. 12-seeded Lee Williams Volunteers in the first round of the 4A Conference state tournament.
The Eagles kept their season alive with a 24-14 win on their Rick Smith Athletic Field on Wednesday by scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter to break a tie going into the final 12 minutes. They did so without arguably their best weapon on offense, as sophomore Donna Carrasco Gonzalez was a late scratch due to injury, leaving other receivers having to step up.
