INDIANAPOLIS — After President Donald Trump signed a bill to end the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history , relief is coming for those who are food insecure in Indiana.
Many Hoosiers received partial benefits earlier this week, but some got none. The state received federal guidance to distribute the remaining benefits as soon as possible.
Feeding Indiana's Hungry, a network of food banks, said the shutdown took a toll on families.
"It causes disruption, it causes uncertainty, and it causes fear," Feeding Indiana's Hungry Executive Director Emily Weikert Bryant said. "A lot of families didn't know how they were going to have enough food to provide for their families."
At Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, they are working hard to meet the demand for food in central Indiana. D
