WASHINGTON — Moments after she was sworn in Wednesday, Rep. Adelita Grijalva, D-Ariz., gave the final required signature for a discharge petition by Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Crescent Springs.

That petition forces a vote on Massie’s bipartisan legislation , co-sponsored by Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., that would compel the Justice Department to release virtually all its records related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Epstein died in custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

“You have to get 218 signatures on the same document,” said Massie. “I succeeded in this, to the consternation of the president, who had originally promised to do what this discharge petition does, so I feel pretty good.”
