NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Two brothers who live in Newport News are expected to be released from ICE custody.

U.S. District Judge Anthony Trenga granted the brothers bond and ordered their release from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Facility in Farmville, Virginia.

"They were arbitrarily arrested by immigrant agents where they live in their community," said Sophia Gregg, a senior immigrants' rights attorney with the ACLU, who worked on the case.

Gregg said agents detained the two brothers, ages 19 and 20 years old, during an immigration sweep in Newport News back in August.

The two brothers, who are remaining anonymous for safety reasons, came to the U.S. as minors from El Salvador.
