SUNNYVALE — Software companies Synopsys and Clari have disclosed plans for layoffs that affect a combined 271 Bay Area tech jobs, in a sign that staffing reductions for the sector could continue to haunt the region’s economy.

The layoffs, all in Sunnyvale, were described as permanent, according to new WARN notices the companies sent to the state Employment Development Department.

Synopsys will chop 175 jobs at multiple sites in Sunnyvale, a WARN letter shows. The company intends to conduct the layoffs around Jan. 12, 2026.

Clari cut 96 jobs in Sunnyvale on Nov. 6, the software company told the state EDD.

The reductions are among the latest layoff waves to batter the Bay Area tech industry in recent weeks in what has turned out to be a brutal October and November for its workers.
