BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (WCAX) - A new family shelter in Brattleboro is giving homeless families a place to stay together while working toward permanent housing.

There is no place like home, and that’s how several families are feeling after moving into the Winston Prouty Center’s new shelter on their sprawling 180-acre campus in Brattleboro.

Tobias Miller is an active and happy two-year-old, but the little boy’s family has not exactly had an easy path.

“I personally have been sleeping at a homeless shelter. My wife and son have been staying with her brother and sister, bouncing back and forth,” said James Miller, Tobias’ dad. Now, an old dorm at the center is a place where they can all be together again. “No, we don’t have a house, per se, but we are going to be home and family again.”
