OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - Governor Tony Evers is pushing back against calls by the Trump administration to pay back FoodShare payments. The governor stopped in Oshkosh on Thursday to visit the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry.
For many Wisconsinites, food pantries and SNAP benefits play a large role in feeding themselves and their family.
“When my pantry gets empty, I stock it back up, and it helps you get things. It’s easier to come here and get what you need, and then you can grocery shop with what you didn’t get,” says Dana Dewey of Oshkosh.
Gov. Evers took a tour of the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry, which feeds over 2,000 households in Oshkosh and surrounding communities.
Gov. Evers released more than $104 million for the FoodShare program funding during the government shutdown.
