A Carlisle resident has become the second Democrat to enter next year’s primary for the 199 th House District seat.

TaWanda Stallworth, 47, joins fellow Carlisle Democrat Rick Christie in the primary race to try and unseat Republican state Rep. Barb Gleim of Middlesex Township.

“Our community deserves to win again,” Stallworth said in a statement.

“I was raised in this community when Cumberland County had a strong and formidable working class with manufacturing giants throughout our district. Over time, good-paying jobs have left, our schools have been underfunded while our public dollars get siphoned to for-profit charter school management companies, and too many of us are working harder to afford less,” she said.
