Commuters who use the CTA will not be paying more next year.

The board passed its budget earlier this week, which does not include a fare increase, layoffs or service cuts.

Those had been concerns until state lawmakers approved money for public transit .

On Thursday, Metra approved a new budget that does not include a fare hike.

It is a $1.2 billion operating budget for 2026. It also relies on new funding just approved by state legislators as part of the mass transit overhaul.

In addition to no fare increases, it also doesn't include any service cuts.
