For Alex Salvadori, soccer has always been a source of joy — that's why being chosen to volunteer for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is so special.
“For me, it’s a dream come true,” he told CBC Toronto at the unveiling of the city's new volunteer centre for the tournament on Thursday. “I'm just really excited to contribute.”
Salvadori, from Richmond Hill, is one of 350 volunteers recruited to help out with the event. In all, around 3,000 volunteers will be recruited for the Toronto dates, tasked with supporting fan experiences, accessibility services, media operations and event logistics.
