After being rushed to Northwestern Memorial Wednesday night, the Rev. Jesse Jackson remains hospitalized for a rare neurological condition.

According to his son, former Congressman and current Congressional candidate Jesse Jackson Jr., doctors were able to give his father fluids and his condition has improved in the last 24 hours.

The 84-year-old civil right leader had been thought to have been battling Parkinson’s Disease for the better part of the last decade. Now, his Rainbow PUSH Coalition is reporting that he was diagnosed in April with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, or PSP, a rare condition related to Parkinson's, that affects 1-in-50,000 people in the U.S.

According to Dr. Bezhad Elahi, a University of Chicago neurologist who is not treating Jackson, PSP has no known cure.
