COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia city leaders invited the media to Finlay Park on for a first look at the long-awaited upgrades. The park is just days away from reopening and excitement is building across the capital.

Finlay Park has been closed for years as crews tackled a major renovation project that cost more than $24 million. City officials said the goal was to bring the downtown landmark back to life while keeping the features residents have loved for decades.

One of the first things visitors will notice is the new pickleball courts. The courts will be open daily and are available to rent. City leaders said they expect them to be one of the park’s most popular attractions.
