COVINGTON, Ky. —

A judge has dismissed charges against a local journalist who was arrested while covering a protest earlier this year.

The protest erupted on July 17 , when a rally for a Cincinnati Children’s Hospital chaplain who was detained by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement turned to chaos. Advertisement

Protesters with Ignite Peace Cincy started to gather at the Sing the Queen City sign in Cincinnati to call for the release of Ayman Soliman, who was detained during a check-in with ICE.

The protest started as a peaceful gathering, calling for Soliman's release, but took a turn when protesters crossed the bridge, with some of them in the road.

When police arrived, protesters were told to disperse and then began arresting people still on the roadway.
