KEMP, Texas — Kemp ISD students are getting a day off from school.
The district announced Thursday that it will close all six of its campuses on Friday due to repairs being made to the roof at Kemp Intermediate School.
In a letter to families, the district said there were "roofing safety concerns" at Kemp Intermediate and described the closure as "necessary" to "ensure a safe environment for students and staff." The district said students will not have to make up the day.
Kemp ISD said that if repairs are necessary and require classroom relocation, they will communicate the updates to parents this weekend. The district said it anticipates resuming normal operations on Monday.
Extracurricular activities at Kemp High and Kemp Junior High will continue as normal.
