TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - It's been a week since the death of Christopher Scholtes, the Marana man who pleaded guilty to the murder of his 2-year-old daughter after he left her in a hot car.
According to Maricopa County investigators, Scholtes took his own life the day he was expected to be taken into custody. Download PDF
Tonight, the News 4 Tucson Investigators have learned that his oldest daughter has voluntarily dismissed the civil lawsuit she had filed against her father just before his death.
In it, she had accused both Christopher and his wife, Erika of emotional abuse, distress, assault, battery and fraud. The lawsuit was dismissed without prejudice, meaning it can be re-filed at a later time.
