ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe is planning to gradually phase out the state income tax.
“You can put more money in Missourians’ pockets and you can use it economically to help you advance the state,” Governor Kehoe said.
Details around the plan are still vague right now, but bills will likely be pre-filed next month, ahead of the legislative session starting in January.
“Missourians work very hard. They can spend their money better than any elected official can. Definitely something we have seen in other states help them economically, attract additional jobs and investment,” Governor Kehoe said.
In Missouri, the state income tax rate is 4.7%, accounting for approximately 60% of the state’s general revenue.
