BOISE, Idaho — Attorneys representing Bryan Kohberger, the man serving four life sentences for killing four University of Idaho students, had their motion denied Thursday seeking to prevent the state's effort for additional restitution payments.
Judge Steven Hippler issued his opinion on Thursday, Nov. 13, precisely three years following the murders, ordering payments for funeral expenses to the families of two of the victims – Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen.
The judge found that the plea agreement clearly entitled the state to seek restitution despite Kohberger's arguments about his inability to pay.
The court awarded $1,420 to Steve and Kristi Goncalves, and $1,587.79 to Karen Laramie for expenses related to urns.
