Michigan voters deserve transparent, accountable elections, but Secretary of State JocelynBenson is implementing three administrative rule sets that systematically dismantle electionintegrity safeguards — and the Legislature cannot stop it.
As Chair of the House Election Integrity Committee, I've watched our state's only check on administrative rulemaking — the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) — become powerless. Deadlocked 50-50, JCAR cannot convene a quorum. By regulatory quirk, rules automatically take effect regardless of JCAR action, meaning the Secretary of State can implement rules violating federal law with zero legislative accountability.
