The WVSSAC Class AA state volleyball tournament championship match wouldn’t be the same without Philip Barbour and Oak Glen facing off for the title, and 2025 was no different.
For the third straight year, the two teams met for the championship. This time around, Oak Glen took home the Golden Bears’ ninth state championship with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23) win over defending champ Philip Barbour on Thursday at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The top two seeds in the tournament battled point for point through four sets, with Oak Glen rallying from a 1-0 deficit to take each of the final three sets, including a 25-23 score in the deciding fourth set.
