SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - After seven years, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission returned to Springfield for public meeting #573, addressing concerns over state budget cuts impacting Community Mitigation Funding.

Springfield city leaders expressed their frustrations during the meeting, as the Community Mitigation Funding, crucial for local development projects, faced reductions due to state budget cuts. Mayor Domenic Sarno emphasized the need for these funds to clean up the area around MGM Springfield, which is part of the host community agreement.

"I want that scaffolding down, I want the jersey barriers gone and I want to see development, as was such agreed upon on the host community agreement," said Mayor Domenic Sarno.
