PORTLAND, Maine — Democratic candidate for governor Hannah Pingree outlined a comprehensive housing plan Thursday aimed at accelerating construction and increasing affordability, which she called "a crisis" for the state.
Speaking in Portland alongside supporters, Pingree unveiled her plan, if elected, which included $100 million annual investment in partnership with developers, a 90-day deadline for state permit approvals, 1,000 apprenticeships and training programs, continued free community college tuition, and measures to reduce evictions and address veteran homelessness.
