PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on the Ohio River Bridge on Interstate 24 on November 11, which involved a semi tractor-trailer.
Authorities said a 27-year-old from Houston, Texas, was driving a 2026 Peterbilt westbound when he hit some slowed traffic and had to brake suddenly.
The sheriff's office then said a load of metal wire spools came loose and rolled forward, crushing the back of the tractor cab.
The driver was not injured in the incident.
Numerous wire spools fell from the trailer onto the bridge's single lane, causing a significant traffic disruption. The bridge was closed for about five hours for cleanup and removal of the semi, putting a strain on local roads.
